Easy Cool Smass Wood Projects For Kids: How To Stimulate Creativity In A Responsible Way

If you are wondering how you can urge your child's creativity why not try to do a project woodworking with your children. Kids love playing with the tools and creating things, but many parents do not have much confidence in their child is able to work with the tools responsibly.

Easy Cool Smass Wood Projects For KidsThe greatest inhibition is that many are in the lower right fear that accidents may occur.

This is unfortunate, because it is really difficult to teach your children responsibility towards safety in woodworking and maintenance materials.

The only thing that is really important is that the parent must be present and take part in the project. So never leave a child alone at the bench, even if he or she promises not to touch anything while you're away for a minute.

Be patient. If your child does not hit the nail right the first time, do not take the job away from them. Practice and stimulate.

To make sure your child stays focused and remains clear of danger you have to choose a woodworking project that the child understands. It must be simple, clearly structured and executed in a day, preferably within hours ..

The latter is very important because children have a different sense of time than adults. If a project requires too much time, the child loses interest. It must always remember that children want to play.

A good practice before starting any project of wood, is to teach the child how to hold a hammer and nail, or how to use a saw correctly. Let them play around with small pieces of wood. Tell them to make a sword such as, or a simple plane. Both are cross-shaped, and with the imagination of some children who will prove to be really cool.

As soon as they understand the wood and the basic tools you can try to go to the next level.

You can introduce new tools, forms and projects. But to keep things simple. Do not show them the instruments of power only because they may contain a handsaw.

Another question is at what age children can start woodworking. Age is sure to seven years, but there's a lot of guys that start before that. Basically, if your child shows genuine interest in you can start giving them a small hammer and a nail. If he really likes, you might consider building or buying their workbench for small children.
